Spring is here--the calendar does lie.

I called my Dekalb dealer about some alfalfa seed yesterday. He told me he was just on his way home from his winter vacation spot in Arizona, what's the hurry? I told him he wouldn't be saying that if he were at home.

Spring has definitely sprung. Soil temperatures are over 60 degrees, the pastures are 4 inches tall, and the county road has even started to firm up. My neighbor mowed his lawn today.

4th of July and the lull of summer

All was quiet around here today, Sunday, July 3.

I am usually so busy that Sunday is just like any other day of the week, I am embarrassed to say.

It was a long week. We finished making first crop hay, did a little custom haying for a neighbor, and managed to get an 18,000 bushel grain bin put up for a customer.

We vaccinated a group of 2000 pigs yesterday and I told the guys when we were done that I'd see them Tuesday morning. They didn't wait around for me to reconsider.

Today I took a nap (!!!), mulched the tomatoes in the garden, and took the kids fishing.
